TAP ROOM MANAGER
Join our team! We are hiring an energetic, extroverted, hospitality-focused leader to manage our Taproom in the Distillery District. This full-time position starts in early spring of 2019 and offers an opportunity to be a part of our family-owned startup cidery from day one. This is a critical role within this new organization and there will be plenty of opportunity to grow as we grow.

We are seeking a highly motivated leader with a mix of experience in retail and hospitality to work closely with, and help develop, our team. This position helps recruit and manage our year-round and seasonal Taproom staff and collaborates with the owners to develop the Taproom experience. The Taproom Manager is responsible for executing the culture of the taproom as it applies to and affects staff and customers. It’s essential that you understand -- or are excited about learning! -- our “wine style” of hard cider, are able to describe our products to staff and consumers, and can help connect our products and story to the Taproom experience. We want this place to be the most kick-ass, friendliest craft beverage place around!
This is a full time, salaried position, with benefits starting in early spring (exact start date is negotiable). The position offers a competitive salary based on experience. The ability to work nights, weekends and holidays is essential.
Responsible for helping make Wise Bird Cider the friendliest, most hospitality-focused craft beverage hangout in Lexington, which means that you are driven to make our customers and your team members happy!
Key responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to:
Hire, train and schedule Taproom staff
Execute and oversee opening and closing functions of Taproom
Develop processes and procedures related to Taproom operations
Inventory management: execute and oversee tracking, controls and restocking of Taproom supplies, materials and product inventory
Work with local food vendors to develop and implement our Food Program
Social Media Management: You should have demonstrated ability to manage the social media of a business; you will be responsible for helping to execute WBC’s Social Media & Marketing Plan
Special Events: You should have experience in planning and overseeing special events and private parties

2+ years experience working in the hospitality industry, preferably in a brewery, restaurant or bar. Minimum of 6 months management experience.
You must be willing to communicate openly and honestly. We believe in receiving as well as giving timely, open and honest feedback. We can’t grow and learn without this basic standard!
Thorough knowledge of ABC rules and regulations at a City, State and Federal level
Ability to work full-time, including nights and weekends
Knowledge and proven ability to manage social media for a business
Experience and ability with MS Office Suite
Experience and ability with POS systems
Proven track record: stable record of success at in the last hospitality jobs you’ve had (or a good reason why it didn’t work out!)
Ability to work on your feet for extended periods of time
Ability to lift up to 35 pounds and move full kegs using materials handling equipment
Nice to haves
Specific knowledge of some aspect of the craft beverage business -- cider/fermenting, beer/brewing, wine/fermenting, or bourbon/distilling
Current food and beverage handling certifications from Lexington Fayette County Health Department
Experience setting up and staffing festival POS locations

Located in the old James E. Pepper Distillery’s Rickhouse building, our taproom has seating capacity for 130 people, including a large outdoor patio area. In addition to ciders, we partner with local restaurateurs to offer a limited menu of food that pairs well with cider. We also offer a rotating selection of local beers on tap. Our neighbors in the Rickhouse include Fusion Brewing, Battle Axes, Relic, and Bloom.
